To tell you the truth, I didn't really
want to walk in there. I had thought, erroneously as it turned out,
that Wagner's was a chain, and I knew that their sales people were
going to be expert, and their shoes expensive. I wondered if I ought
to be looking at a cheaper option. I wasn't sure I wanted to spend
the next hour of my life talking to a sales person.
It actually turned out to be a great
shopping experience. Zane measured my feet, and looked at my stance,
and we talked about problems I have had with tennis shoes in the
past. He brought out several pairs of stability shoes, all of which I
tried before deciding that the motion-control shoe was the one for
me. Yes, it did turn out to be an expensive shoe, but I felt good
about my purchase knowing that my money was being invested in local
business. Because Wagner's is locally owned, Zane was able to offer
me the opportunity to walk up and down the sidewalk outside the
store, which really gave me a feel for the fit of the shoe. He also
told me that Wagner's offers a thirty day guarantee. You can take
your shoes home and run in them, walk in them, whatever you would
normally do, and if you aren't happy with the pair you can bring it
back to the store. Wagner's has won my business, and the next time I go out looking for an athletic shoe I know exactly where to go.
